Anxiety Therapy

With A Nervous System Approach

Anxiety can feel like your body is always “on.”

Even when life looks fine on the outside, something inside stays alert.

Racing thoughts. Tight chest. Restlessness.
Or a constant underlying tension that never fully leaves.

At Project Pure in Sumner, Christchurch, anxiety is approached through the nervous system. Because anxiety is not just something you think.
It is something your body is experiencing.

Through Deep Release Therapy, we work with the underlying patterns that keep your system activated—so calm, clarity, and ease can return.

Anxiety begins in the nervous system. And that’s where calm can return.

Does This Feel Familiar?

Your mind keeps looping, even when you try to switch off;

Your body feels tense, wired, or on edge;

You overthink conversations, decisions, or future scenarios;

You feel easily overwhelmed by everyday situations;

You struggle to fully relax, even in safe environments;

You feel exhausted, yet unable to truly settle.

What Drives Anxiety?

A Nervous System Perspective

Anxiety is often treated as a thinking problem.
Something to manage, control, or override.

At its core, anxiety is a nervous system state.

When the nervous system perceives pressure, unpredictability, or lack of safety, it shifts into activation.

This can come from:

  • Early life experiences

  • Ongoing stress or pressure

  • Emotional patterns that were never fully processed

  • A loss of rhythm, rest, and recovery

Over time, the body learns this state as “normal.” Deep Release Therapy works at this level—where anxiety is created.

What has become normal

Busy mind
Constant stimulation
Pushing through fatigue

What is natural

Rhythm
Recovery
A body that can settle

Why the mind alone cannot resolve anxiety

Understanding helps.

But the body needs to feel safe for change to happen.

Calm is something the body can learn.
