Overcoming Insomnia Through Nervous System Regulation
If you are struggling with falling asleep, waking during the night, or lying awake for hours despite feeling tired, it can feel as though the body no longer knows how to rest.
At Project Pure, insomnia is approached through nervous system regulation, addressing the underlying patterns that keep the body alert so natural sleep can return.
Some people begin to notice shifts within a few weeks, while for others the process unfolds more gradually, depending on what the nervous system is carrying.
Sessions take place in a private studio in Sumner, Christchurch, supporting clients across Christchurch and Canterbury.
Sleep begins when the body feels safe enough to let go.
How This Work Supports Insomnia
Insomnia is rarely just a sleep problem.
It reflects a nervous system that has remained in a state of activation.

For some, this begins during periods of stress or after significant life events such as loss, relationship changes, burnout or prolonged pressure.

For others, it connects to earlier patterns, where the body learned to stay alert rather than fully settle.
Over time, the body can lose its natural ability to shift into deep rest, even when there is a strong desire to sleep.

Through Deep Release Therapy, we work with:
– the underlying activation within the nervous system
– stored emotional patterns held in the body
– the body’s capacity to feel safe enough to rest
As the nervous system begins to regulate, sleep starts to return naturally.

Pause for a moment.

Notice your breath.
Notice your body.

This is where sleep begins.
A different way of understanding insomnia

What Is Deep Release Therapy
Deep Release Therapy is a body-based therapeutic approach that works with the nervous system, stored emotional patterns and early adaptations that continue to influence how the body responds today.
Rather than managing symptoms at the surface, this work focuses on resolving the underlying activation that keeps the system alert.
Sessions include guided processes that allow the body to access, process and release held tension, while developing a stronger internal sense of safety and regulation.
